The new Inspector General of Government, Hon. Beti Olive Namisango Kamya-Turomwe, on Monday, October 25, 2021 paid a courtesy visit to the Chief Justice, Hon. Justice Alfonse Chigamoy Owiny - Dollo in his chambers at the Supreme Court.
During the visit, the Chief Justice stressed the need for the two Government entities to help stir the country to move forward to a place "where we (Ugandans) play our part and strive to leave this country better than we found it."
In spite of the independence of the three arms of government, the Hon. Chief Justice equally emphasized the need for the three to work together as interdependent bodies.
He reechoed his stance against corruption which, he said, the Judiciary as an institution doesn't condone.
Hon. Justice Owiny - Dollo equally encouraged the IGG to stand firm in the fight against corruption despite the challenges.
"You have to ensure that this country operates in respect of the law; public funds must be used for the good of the people and it is not an easy task, be firm, be bold and the Lord God is always there to be with you." CJ to the IGG.
On her part, Hon. Kamya thanked the Chief Justice for agreeing to the meet and the wise counsel given. "Thank you for those words of wisdom I am much wiser than I came indeed, your message is a very powerful tool on how to fight corruption," she said.
The IGG was flanked by nine senior officials from her office. From the Judiciary, HW Ayebare Tumwebaze, the Private Legal Secretary to CJ and the CJ's Personal Assistant, HW Peter Lochomin attended the meeting.
